Having your electrical test equipment calibrated by Hitek ensures accuracy that you can rely on. It also ensures that the ranges originally set by the manufacturer are achievable.

We can provide UKAS calibration for most electrical instruments in a temperature controlled environment. However, if you don’t require UKAS calibration, we can also provide a standard traceable (ISO9001) calibration service.

17th/18th Edition Testers

17th/18th edition tester kits come fully equipped with everything needed for electricians to test electrical installations in accordance with 17th/18th edition regulations.

We offer electrical calibration on single function insulation, multi-function, insulation, loop and RCD testers. The most popular manufacturers we calibrate include Fluke, Megger, Martindale, Di-Log, Kewtech and ATP.

Single Function 17th/18th Edition Testers

The three main types of single function 17th/18th edition testers are loop testers, insulation/continuity and RCD testers.

Loop Tester

To test a loop tester, we apply a range of values between the minimum capability of your device and the maximum possible value according to manufacturers standards. If working correctly, your tester should be able to comfortably test all readings. We also perform general operational checks, as well as ensuring that the voltage and resistance of the device are correct.

RCD Testers

Whilst performing a general operational test, we make sure the device is carrying a current according to the manufacturer’s standards. We’d also check each current output range, the trip time and trip current.

Insulation and Continuity Testers

We make sure that the output voltage for every insulation range conforms to manufacturer specification. We also test the full range of the device, starting with the minimum value and working up in steps towards the maximum. When testing continuity, we test every range and also make sure that the unit is zeroing correctly by testing the zero function (if it has one).

Clamp Meters

Clamp meters are tested similarly to multimeters. The values of the tester are put through steps between the minimum and maximum to ensure it performs correctly according to the manufacturer’s specification.

We calibrate clamp meters that measure both high and low AC and DC currents as well as earth leakage and earth resistance clamp meters.

The most popular brands that we calibrate are Fluke, Megger, Kewtech, Di-Log and Martindale.

PAT Testers

PAT Testers are used for electrical safety testing of office and IT equipment in domestic, commercial and industrial applications. Hitek perform a thorough test of:

  • the output current of all possible earth bond ranges
  • earth bond resistance
  • the insulation resistance for the device
  • earth leakage
  • loads and all leads supplied with a PAT tester.
  • an IEC lead and polarity test.

For PAT testers, we’re able to perform UKAS calibration to national standards or provide a traceable standard calibration service.

The main manufacturers’ equipment that we calibrate is Seaward, Fluke and Megger.

Multimeters

A multimeter is used for measuring current (AC and DC in amperes), resistance (in ohms) and voltage (AC and DC in volts) on electrical circuits.

Typically, a multimeter is a combination of a DC voltmeter, an AC voltmeter, an ammeter and an ohmmeter.

We offer both standard traceable calibration and UKAS accredited calibration on a range of on DC and Low-Frequency multimeters (bench multimeters, handheld multimeters and high precision multimeters).

We calibrate handheld digital multi-meters from Megger, Kewtech, Martindale, Di-Log or Fluke at up to 8 1/2 Digits.

Extra High Tension Devices

Hitek can offer standard traceable calibration services on a range of Extra High Tension (EHT) devices including:

  • High Voltage Probes
  • Flash Testers
  • Hi Pot Testers
  • Tachometers
